Privacy Policy — Bean Slinger

Last updated: 30 September 2026 Effective: 30 September 2026

1. Who we are

Bean Slinger (“the Game”, “the App”) is published by Daniel Lang (“we”, “us”, “our”), established in the United Kingdom.

For any question about this policy or your personal data, contact us at: danjonlang91@hotmail.com

We are the data controller for the limited data described in Section 4. Google is an independent controller for the advertising data described in Section 5.

2. Age requirement — the Game is for ages 13 and over

Bean Slinger is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

If you are under 13, please do not use the Game.

If you are between 13 and the age of digital consent in your country (which is 13–16 depending on where you live), you may need your parent or guardian’s permission before consenting to personalised advertising. The consent screen shown when you first open the Game is where that choice is made.

If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it as soon as reasonably practicable. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, contact us at danjonlang91@hotmail.com and we will act on it.

3. Summary — the short version

4. Data we collect and store ourselves

4.1 Game progress and settings (stored on your device)

The Game saves your progress locally on your device: levels completed, in-game currency (“gold” and “precision tokens”), trophies and accolades earned, upgrades and power-ups owned, daily-reward streak, tutorial completion, and audio/haptic preferences.

4.2 Diagnostic and gameplay event logs (stored on your device)

The Game writes a technical log of gameplay events (for example: a level started, a level completed, an advertisement was offered) to a file on your device. This is used for debugging and game balancing.

4.3 Online leaderboards (optional, only if you choose to post)

The first time you open Overtime, the Game asks whether you want to post your Overtime scores to public online leaderboards. Nothing below happens unless you say yes. You can look at the leaderboards without posting anything, and without any ID being created.

If you say yes, we process:

Data Why Who can see it
An anonymous ID created by Google Firebase Authentication. It is not linked to your Google account, email or phone number. So your scores are yours, and so limits and bans apply to one player Nobody but us
Your nickname: one we generate (“Speedy Pickle 42”), or one you choose To show on the boards Everyone who views the leaderboards
Your Overtime results: the line (3/4/5 lanes), the score, how long the run lasted, beans sorted and gold banked, and when it was posted To rank you, and to check the score is possible The score and rank: everyone. The rest: nobody but us
Reports you make about other players’ nicknames (which nickname, and when) To remove offensive names Nobody but us
Your IP address, as part of each request To deliver the request and to limit abuse (rate limiting). We do not log or store it Our hosting providers, transiently

5. Advertising — data collected by Google

The Game is free and is funded by advertising. Advertisements are served by Google AdMob. When you play, Google’s advertising software may collect and process:

Data Used for
Android Advertising ID (AAID) and App Set ID Serving and measuring ads; frequency capping; fraud prevention
IP address (which may be used to estimate approximate location, such as country or region) Serving ads, analytics, fraud prevention
In-app activity relating to ads — app launches, taps, ad views and completions Serving and measuring ads; analytics
Device and diagnostic information — device model, operating system version, app launch time, performance and stability data Analytics; fraud prevention

Important points:

You can read Google’s policies here:

You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in your device settings, under Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by device and Android version). Deleting it stops it being used to personalise advertising.

6. Your advertising choices and how to change them

The first time you open the Game, if you are in the UK, EEA, Switzerland or a regulated US state, you will be shown a consent form provided by Google’s User Messaging Platform. It asks whether you agree to your data being used for personalised advertising.

Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on:

Purpose Legal basis
Storing your game progress on your own device Legitimate interests — providing the game you asked for
Serving personalised advertising Consent (Article 6(1)(a)), collected via the consent form in Section 6
Serving non-personalised advertising, fraud prevention, and basic ad delivery Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — funding a free game and preventing fraud
Diagnostic and stability data Legitimate interests — keeping the Game working
Posting your nickname and scores to the online leaderboards Consent (Article 6(1)(a)), asked in the Game before anything is posted; withdraw it any time (Section 4.3)
Checking posted scores are possible, rate limiting, handling reports and removing offensive names Legitimate interests — keeping the leaderboards fair and safe for everyone on them

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered the impact on you and concluded that the processing is limited, expected in an ad-funded free game, and does not override your rights. You may object to it (see Section 9).

8. Data retention

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

How to exercise them. The Game has no accounts you sign in to. Apart from the optional leaderboards, we hold no identifiers that link to you. In practice:

Complaints. If you are in the UK you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk). If you are in the EEA you may complain to your local supervisory authority. If you are in another country, you may have an equivalent regulator.

9.1 California residents

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA where you have not consented. You have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out. To opt out of personalised advertising, use the Privacy settings option described in Section 6. We do not knowingly collect personal information from consumers under 16 for sale or sharing.

10. International transfers

Google processes advertising data on servers located in a number of countries, including the United States. Where data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, Google states that it relies on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US and UK–US Data Privacy Framework. Details are in the Google links in Section 5.

If you post to the online leaderboards, the data is stored by Google Firebase in the London region and passes through Cloudflare’s network, which may process requests in other countries, including the United States. Both rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US and UK–US Data Privacy Framework.

11. Security

We store your game data on your own device using the security controls provided by your device and operating system. Data transmitted by the advertising software is encrypted in transit using TLS.

Leaderboard data is sent only over encrypted connections (TLS). The leaderboard database cannot be read or written directly from any device; every request passes through our gateway, which verifies who is asking and checks what is sent.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect information, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and any transmission is at your own risk.

12. Permissions the Game uses

Requested by the Game itself:

Permission Why
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE To load advertisements and check connectivity
VIBRATE Haptic feedback during play

Declared by the Google Mobile Ads SDK (these come with the advertising software rather than from features of the Game, and are listed here for completeness):

Permission Why
AD_ID Access to the Android Advertising ID, to serve and measure ads (Sections 5 and 6)
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS Android Privacy Sandbox advertising APIs
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, WAKE_LOCK, BIND_JOB_SERVICE Background work performed by Google Play services on the advertising software’s behalf

The Game does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, files, calendar, call/SMS data, or any device storage outside its own private folder. It holds no location permission of any kind: the approximate location described in Section 5 is derived by Google from your IP address, not read from your device.

13. Purchases

The Game contains no real-money purchases. We do not collect or process payment information of any kind.

If purchases are added in future, they will be processed by Google Play Billing; we would not receive or store your payment card details, and this policy would be updated before any such feature is released.

14. Third parties

The Game uses the following third-party services:

We do not permit these services to use your data for purposes other than providing their service to us, save as described in their own policies. AdMob and the User Messaging Platform are the only third-party software embedded in the Game. Firebase and Cloudflare are reached over the internet, and only for the leaderboards.

Advertisements shown in the Game may link to third-party websites or app store listings that we do not operate or control. We are not responsible for the content, products, or privacy practices of those third parties, and this policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any third-party destination you visit.

15a. Leaderboard rules

Nicknames must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, or impersonate anyone else, including us or the app stores. Names are checked automatically before they appear. A name reported by several players is replaced with a generated one straight away and reviewed. We may remove scores that could not have been achieved in the Game, and we may stop players who break these rules from posting.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example if we add a feature that changes what data is processed. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and publish the new version at this address. Where a change materially affects your rights or expands the data collected, we will seek fresh consent or give prominent notice in the Game before the change takes effect.

Continuing to play after a change takes effect indicates acceptance of the updated policy, except where your consent is separately required.
